Somatic Coaching

Somatic Coaching

What is somatic coaching?

How do shift our lives towards care in an embodied way?

How do we learn to listen to our bodies so we can choose how we respond to stress?

These are some of the questions answered through somatic coaching.

Somatic coaching is a relational space where pathways are created for greater awareness of one’s safety and connection. My approach is based in Polyvagal theory which was developed by Stephen Porges and furthered along with the Felt Sense model.

This approach enables us to use the hidden powers within in our nervous system, so we can make decisions for ourselves that are rooted in care -- care for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community.

Our lives can be lived at a hyper-speed, filled with a constant list of things to do and multiple distractions. We are in the ‘Information Age’ where our culture attempts to co-opt all of our attention.

Through social media and our relationship with our phones and technology in general, it is almost a transgressive act to slow down and notice how we are actually feeling. We also need help to create real, long lasting change in how we protect and use our attention.

Through the lens of sensation awareness and somatic exercises, we learn to slow down, to listen and notice how our bodies are actually responding to stress, to life, and also in moments of calm.

What are the stories our nervous system is telling us? What stories do we tell ourselves?

Together we will shape a foundation of connection with your body, and through that connection, allow for shifts in how your life is lived.

The idea of living a mindful life is one that most of us are acquainted with. However, I believe that living a SENSEFUL life or sensation based life, is an essential part of staying embodied as we move through the world.

Staying with ourselves even when we are in deep discomfort will send out ripples where we can feel connected to our loved ones, to our community, to our landscape, and to the world.
